What is Personal Training?

Personal training is a professional service where a certified personal  trainer or fitness coach provides individualized exercise guidance and coaching. The primary goal of a qualified coach is to help their clients achieve their fitness goals, which may include weight loss, muscle gain, improved athletic performance, or overall health and wellness.

A good quality personal training program involves the following key components:

  1. Assessment: Evaluating your current fitness level, health history, and specific goals. This includes physical assessments such as body measurements, strength and flexibility tests, and cardiovascular endurance tests.

  2. Individualized Exercise Program: You will receive  a personalized workout plan tailored to your  goals, fitness level, and any special considerations (e.g., injuries, medical conditions).

  3. Instruction and Demonstration: Teaching  proper exercise techniques and form to ensure safety and effectiveness. This may involve demonstrating exercises, correcting form, and providing modifications as needed.

  4. Motivation and Support: Offering encouragement and motivation to help you stay committed to your fitness journey. Qualified personal trainers also provide accountability by setting goals and tracking progress.

  5. Nutritional Guidance: While personal trainers are not typically dietitians, many provide general advice on healthy eating and lifestyle choices that support fitness goals.

  6. Progress Monitoring: Regularly tracking and assessing your  progress to adjust the workout plan as needed and ensure continued improvement.

  7. Variety and Adaptability: Introducing new exercises and routines to keep the workouts interesting and challenging, and adapting the program to your ever evolving needs and goals.

Personal training can be conducted in various settings, including gyms, fitness studios, clients’ homes, or even outdoors. The Corvallis Strength Training Studio offers training in a fully private studio space located in the heart of the Mid-Willamette Valley.
